Curriculum
iSchool High utilizes a curriculum that is built within the RES curriculum department, it is research based and aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Our school has also created an in-house academic program called the Mastery Based Learning System (MBLS), which is followed by all students.
The MBLS is a student-centered, independent, personalized approach to education. The MBLS is designed to move the instructional power from the teacher and shift it to the student. The role of the instructor in student-centered classrooms is to encourage learners to do more discovery/active learning and to have students learn from each other, the instructor also focuses on constructing authentic, real-life tasks that motivate learner involvement and participation.
Student Activities
Currently, iSchool High Atascocita provides Student Council and Interact Club. Next school year, we will add Yearbook and National Honor Society.
Grade Point Average (GPA) Calculation
Beginning with grade nine, all subjects, whether passed or failed, are included in the GPA computation. A minimum of 26 credits is required for graduation. College classes are weighted by one point. Grades are recorded on the transcript and GPA is computed throughout the school year.
Calculation of GPA at iSchool operates on a weighted 4.0 GPA system. While our high school course can achieve up to a 4.0, students taking dual credit courses can achieve up to a 5.0.
